Is Vidael thoroughly sick of mystical magical beings he has to battle? Yes. He hated magic combat with a particular passion, despite himself being a magic user- it’s not magic he hated per se, but the world-bending shenanigans that happens when magic is used improperly. Take now, for example. A white gryphon, so pale she looks translucent, was standing before him and his companions. With the bright purple glow of corruption in her eyes, shimmery wings seemingly made of stardust, and way too much magic for any sane dragon (or gryphon) to have. Apparently she’s the ghost of the leader of the Noctua gryphons, despite her very corrupted look. What even. Also apparent is the fact that he now has to go head-to-head with her in terms of magic, since Vidael doubted his usual physical attacks would do anything to her. And despite being a little aberrant himself- he kept it under control, mostly, but what he did know was that aberration can greatly improve a dragon’s magic capabilities- there

Invictus was here on behalf of his Flight, investigating disturbances at the edge of the territory. Dragons have reported missing eggs and prey, and some say they’ve seen sightings of a giant eagle stealing it from them. Considering that one of the reports was made by a Warden, of all dragons, Invictus felt like it was probably not true. There was no way an eagle would have grown large enough to threaten a Warden. Bur orders were orders, and here he was. “I still think it’s all a ploy to get us out of the Flight,” muttered Vidael next to him as he eyed their two other travel companions- Scrala and Fenrir, who had joined them for a battle with the Rayfin last time, who were great allies to have as long as they didn’t turn on you. Which they occasionally did. “Well, it’d certainly be a rather elaborate ploy if they spent all that time and effort into faking so many reports of stolen eggs,” Invictus rebuked, although not harshly. The battle had arrived. Scrala grinned as Fenrir succeeded to redirect the rayfin and throw it onto Land. The giant creature Made the earth shake from the impact it made with the ground Beneath it. Scrala let out a laughter, casting a look over her shoulder to her celestial feline which Was hiding in her fur. “Go play with some birds~ momma got a fight to win!” She purred. The cat listened right away jumping down from the dragon and took some distance to be safe from the battle. Scrala saw Vidael leap into action as well, making her grin even more. “That's the Spirit!” She purred. This one she liked. But the other one… her eyes went to look towards the other one still standing there with her. A croocked grin formed on her face. “Need a lift???” She purred out and without a warning, her form too started shifting, growing massive in size, taking the shape of a big bird. Like this she attempted to grab Invictus, planning to throw them at the rayfin as well. Fenrir meanwhile Was doing

“That doesn’t look great,” Vidael commented, flicking a talon at the water in front of him. Said water was a deep, deep blue, so deep it looked black. It also had suspicious bubbles floating up from somewhere below, and an eerie purple glow coming from it. He was currently standing in front of a large underground lake, the sort that one assumed could only be found in myths. The water itself was bone-chilling, as he had found out by stepping in it by accident, and the only illumination inside was the silvery moonlight shining through a natural skylight. The wind outside of the cavern barely reached the dry insides, however it was just enough to whistle a long, sustained note that echoed in the empty space. All in all, it was an unsettlingly fitting place for him to find the giant, corrupted Rayfin, Livyatan. “Um,” Vidael said elegantly, turning towards his companions. “Anyone got any ideas on what to do with him?” “Beat em.” Scrala was sitting at the edge of the group, looking bored

By this point, Lynx was pretty used to a few gryphons coming to their Flight every few or so days, for one reason or another. Sometimes they were here to ask to trade for aberrant cures, others simply wanted to get to know them. Some more, however, were treating them as a threat, and those she would very happily chase out of their territory. It seemed that as more and more of the gryphons start to get cured by aberrant cure potions, word had spread about their Flight’s location and gryphons started to flock to their location, pardon the pun. Today was no different- a group of gryphons had asked for assistance in finding some rare herbs to make another aberrant cure, and some of the plants needed were found in their territory. This was a pre-arranged meeting, unlike the previous times where some of them even had the gall to hold her friends hostage, for the gods’ sakes, and she was sure that nothing would go wrong today. Antares was having a pretty good morning today. He was asleep, hidden beneath a clump of trees and above a bed of soft moss. The morning sunshine gently showered down on his scales, the light making his pinks and blues glimmer in comparison to the black patches on his body. Around him, there were gentle chirps of birds and the sound of a trickling stream, likely formed by the thawed ice running off the mountains not too far away from here. His morning peace was shattered when a large figure, as large as he was, hurled through the canopy and crash-landed in a heap of white and brown feathers, green leaves falling like rain around them. Antares startled, jumping up from his spot on the comfy moss and blinking at the newcomer. He had, by now, encountered enough gryphons to determine that this was in fact another gryphon, those her front body resembled more like that of an eagle’s. Cascade felt like she was the head of the group again, like that one time Ation got so annoyed at everyone that they literally just threw their head into the nearest hard object, which happened to be Cascade. She felt like she was parenting everyone again, except instead of wanting to throw her head against the nearest hard surface it was more that she was surprised at how well-behaved everyone was. (Maybe it’s because they don’t have Spinel here, heh.) With her was Lynx and Antares, two newcomers to the Flight who were less experienced, but considering they had been negotiating with the gryphons for a while, she was more than happy to let them come with. Antares insisted on bringing his friend’s little noodle cat pet, which she grudgingly allowed if only so that he can stop pestering her. Their mission, today, was to negotiate the terms for a possible trade with the Cinerous gryphons in exchange for, you guessed it, the recipe for the aberrant cleanser. The group of dragons waited

See, Lynx isn’t a very big fan of visitors. She wasn’t a fan of dragons at all, initially, but a few years in the wild at the outskirts of a wild flight’s territory- and later being accepted into said territory- has changed her mind somewhat. Now, she had a few dependable dragons she’d call friends, and most of the flight were now on her tolerated list. But she especially wasn’t a big fan when visitors intruded on her territory, unannounced, and proceeded to take one of her own flightmates hostage. Antares, squirming under the hold of a bird-like gryphon, blinked sheepishly at her in a way that suggested he might’ve been too scared to break out of the hold. She sighed. “We just want to talk,” the gryphon not holding the Abyssal said, slowly walking forwards towards her, and the cavalry she had assembled to ‘rescue’ Antares: Vidael she asked to come since she knew he was a good fighter, and Invictus had hopped in the moment he heard his friend was in trouble, which was kind of sweet.

Ation was back in the Abyssal trenches, once again, floating gently on the current. By now they had stopped being surprised by their ability to breathe in the endless ocean, even though some of their peers still did- the new ones in particular, Cascade the Warden and Lynx the Ravager, were flailing around, extremely confused at their own ability to breathe in the endless water. After the first contact between their flight and the Rayfins was established, it soon became apparent that many of their own members were infested with Corruption- even if it’s a little bit. The Rayfins themselves were interesting hosts for the aberration, for sure, because their minds seemed less affected than other species’ when infected, and they develop less outward symptoms of corruption, but it made it easier for them to
